From the perspective of the Diocese of Pittsburgh’s CFO, the CBT produces tremendous value including compelling financial benefits, and the professionalism and sound management of our business partners.  I give my sincere thanks to all our business partners that continue to make this effort a success for our current and future members.

When we first started discussion of forming the Catholic Benefit Trust, I was mainly interested in the “hard savings”, which consisted of the reduction in costs through the administration and stop-loss fees. The legal protection over some of our self-insurance assets was also a bonus. However, I am quickly realizing the importance of “soft savings” in the reduction in claims, which I believe is due to the data analytics and improved medical care. I am certainly looking forward to a second year of savings!
